Characters around the Golden Temple. The Baba is a famous character in the Indian culture. Literally the word Baba means father, but is used as a title for older men who play the role of wise men, giving up the pleasures more materials and devoting themselves to a life of spirituality.

Normally, their "job" is to spread their wisdom and are usually paid for by donations from the "followers".
The term "Ji" is used in the form of respect, and in Indian language you can add to almost every word.
Normally they wear clothing similar to each other, to make clear their role. Here in Punjab was this huge turban their hallmark, and I noticed that Babas from Himachal Pradesh dressed in orange.
