Still sleepy

It's 6 in the morning at the floating market, just after sunrise. A little boy on a small boat is still sleepy. Often street vendors take their children on their boats ... perhaps they would prefer to sleep a little longer, perhaps they would prefer to play, because this is what they are supposed to do at that age.

Kitchen

We are on the Mekong River on the border with Cambodia and this is one of the houses of the floating village. Most of the houses are simple shacks built quite randomly like the one you see. A woman prepares the dinner in what is her open sky kitchen, draining the fluids of the meat that cuts, directly into the river. She is probably waiting for her husband to come back from work on his own small boat.

Inland News

Shot taken while i was sailing on a boat on the Mekong River. This is a glimpse of one of the houseboats.. Here there is a floating village where the life goes very relaxed, away from the city. A man reads the news coming from the "Inland world".

Water traffic

Another shot from the floating market near Can Tho. This is the traffic on the Mekong River.. peddlers on their boats seeking customers, while others exchange the goods or purchase large quantities that they can later sell on the mainland. Unfortunately this market is no more what was use to be in the past years, becoming every year less attended by the local vendors.

Sailing on

At the lively shipyard in Dhaka hundreds of people cross the river everyday, perhaps to make shopping to the local market near the shore. Here, noise, dirt, and chaos are the main characters.
