A buddhist monk who studies alone inside a small temple near Can Tho. Monks must always broaden their knowledge and wisdom.. therefore study is a really important part of their life and they spend lot of hours reading books.

A trip with a monk.. Sukhothai is a famous touristy spot in Thailand for the presence of the beautiful ruins of the ancient empire of Sukhothai. Also monks don't miss the opportunity to visit this important archaeological site and get some photos as memory... like anyone else.

Here we are at the Golden Temple in Bylakuppe where 3,000 tibetan monks live as refugee. This one was the building where the younger monks are studying. At lunch time everyone was running to get the meal. Despite their votes, their attitude is still the one of normal young guys.. like everyone else.

A buddhist monk concentrated on his prayer in front of a giant statue of Buddha. We are in Sukhothai, and this monk is visiting the ruins of this ancient fallen empire. Sukhothai is a strong tourist attraction and also monks come to enjoy a tour among these beautiful and interesting ruins.

Inside the Dalai Lama temple there is an hall where all the monks gather together for praying and singing.

The situation between Tibet and China is very critical by now since many years, where episodes of violence are really frequent. In neighboring countries to Tibet.. like India, you will find many colonies of Tibetan refugees, of which largely Buddhist monks. McLeod Ganj is one of the major colonies as well as home of the Dalai Lama.
