During my stay in northern Thailand I rented a scooter and drove in company with an Australian girl met a few days earlier, through the villages in the mountains around Mae Hong Son. We were looking for the Burma's refugee villages to witness the different situations of life in the villages. This is the "Ban Nai Son Kayan Longneck Village", a small and remote village of huts almost inaccessible because of the dire condition of the road that leads here.
I was hosted in a small village near the city of Comilla. Here the visitors are very rare, especially in this time of year. Therefore my presence did not pass unnoticed. Wherever I walked the locals greeted me enthusiastically inviting me to drink or eat something together.. or perhaps have a chat. The elderly and those who could speak a bit of English tried excited to have a conversation with this man came from far away (me).

This square was close to my guesthouse and a lot of people was used to gather here daily. The old women were chatting or weaving, the men were caring about the animals and the kids playing volleyball or other games all together.
